Eucharist

Holy Communion

Holy Communion is the sacrament by which we receive God's Body and Blood truly and substantially. It is not a symbol nor a reenactment of the Last Supper that happened over two thousand years ago. It is Jesus, with no time limitations, bringing us to the Last Supper to experience His love and service to us, to share the ultimate gifts, His body and blood.

When Catholics receive the Eucharist, we receive Him and He becomes a part of us and we become a part of Him, so that we may bring Him into the world through our actions of love, mercy and forgiveness. Christ entrusted this Most Blessed Sacrament to His bride, the Church for spiritual nourishment and a pledge for eternal life.

First Holy Communion Preparation

The two year First Holy Communion Program is an opportunity for our children to experience the love of God through this sacrament which is the very center and culmination of Catholic life. Children in the program are to complete two full consecutive years of religious education (CCE or Catholic school) and be actively attending Mass.

The recommended age to receive this sacrament the first time is second grade.

Registration Requirements for the Two-year Program:

  • Minimum age 6 and in at least the first grade.
  • Preparing for Baptism ( Easter Vigil) or Baptized Catholic. Copy of Catholic Baptism Certificate must be turned in at registration.
  • Must be a registered member of St. Paul or Good Hope
  • Must be attending Mass regularly.
